A few years ago I shared a 3D model of Tux I created using Blender, mentioning how it could one day become a game…
Well, over the last year and a half I’ve made quite some progress with this game project, and I figured it’s time to provide you with a little update. By now, Tux can run around, slide on his belly, wall-jump, collect sardines and find items to use, among other things.

You can find the source code on GitLab, and the CI artifacts built there are also available through itch.io. I hope you’ll have fun playing, and maybe even add some levels using Edddy. Be sure to share them here or aboard the Colourship if you do!

I loved SDnW. Great graphics too, so thanks.
Much features have been added to Tux! (and its level editor) over the past year. The game now has 5 different hats and 6 levels. I’m currently working on adding character customisation, which is almost ready for release.
After that it’s time to add battle mode. Btw, for people running Arch-based distros, there’s AUR packages available of both the game and the editor.
Tux needs to be able to wear tux as a hat (itd be funny)
Well, like the caps in Super Mario 64, all hats in Tux! are functional: They provide certain items/abilities that are only available as long as the hat is worn. So as part of character customisation, I consider hats to be out of the question. Hats have to do something, beyond just being funny.
